Christian in Hall of Fame

At the annual Hall of Fame dinner, held at the SWALEC stadium last Friday evening, Cardiff's Christian Malcolm was one of three distinguished sportsmen inducted into the Welsh Hall of Fame.

As Wales' best ever sprinter, Christian joined cricketer Peter Walker and footballer Terry Yorath to received this prestigious recognition of his outstanding achievements.

Christian was supported at the award ceremony by long time coach Jock Anderson, cousin Kevin Williams and training partner and European medallist Doug Turner.

Christian's collection of major championships medals is impressive and comprises six gold, six silver and four bronze, as follows:

Gold: European Junior Championships 1997 (200m & 4x100m relay); World Junior Championships 1998 (100m & 200m); European Under 23 Championships 1999 (4x100m relay); European Indoor Championships 2000 (200m).

Silver: European Junior Championships 1997 (100m); Commonwealth Games 1998 (200m); European Under 23 Championships 1998 (200m); World Indoor Championships 2001 (200m); European Indoor Championships 2002 (200m); European Championships 2010 (200m).

Bronze: European Under 23 Championships 1999 (100m); World Championships 2005 (4x100m relay); World Championships 2007 (4x100m relay); Commonwealth Games 2010 (200m).

Even when not winning medals, Christian has been involved in some of the greatest sprint finals in history, including Usain Bolt's world record over 200m.

Christian is now coach to the Great Britain sprint relay squad and has set up the Christian Malcolm Academy to help aspiring young athletes.

Cardiff AAC is very proud of Christian who is a life member of the club.
