Welcome to Wales' Premier Athletic Club
together we are one

Are you ready?

Wednesday 14 April 2010

Another track and field season is upon us and, after great team performances last year, the question is – can we do better this year? The first Welsh Senior League is next Sunday, 18th April, the first Welsh Young Athletes’ League and National Junior League matches are the following Sunday, 25th and the first Young Athletes’ League match is on Sunday 2nd May.

Club athletes have trained and performed well during the winter and will be aiming for personal bests in the summer.

Which teams will fly the club flag?

Will it be the Young Athletes’ League team that won every match last year; the men’s British League team that gained promotion to the National Division 1; the UK Women’s league team that held its own; or the Welsh Junior league team? Can the National Junior League team fight its way back into the national system?

Each of these teams can expect tough competition and will depend for success on the contribution of each and every team member. It is essential that all team members, when selected, do their best to turn out as full teams stand the best chances of success.

Full details (dates, venues, etc.) of all the club’s summer fixtures as well as championship dates can be found on the website. Go to the “Track and Field Events” page.

THE CLOSING DATE FOR THE SOUTH WALES TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS IS FRIDAY 23rd APRIL.  NO LATE ENTRIES ARE ALLOWED SO MAKE SURE YOU GET YOURS IN, IN PLENTY OF TIME.

ENTRY FORMS ARE STILL AVAILABLE IN THE CLUBROOM ON THE RECEPTION TABLE.

IF YOU ARE TRAINING ON A CLUB NIGHT THEN YOU SHOULD BE COMPETING IN THESE IMPORTANT CHAMPIONSHIPS.

It is also important to reply to selection notices and let the team managers know well in advance whether you are able to compete and your preferred event. Team managers work hard to help you to succeed and all club members are expected to compete for the club when selected as well as in championships.

Club nights are on Monday and Thursday evenings and these are the best times to keep in touch with team managers and other club officials (they can be found in the club room). Please let them know if you achieve a personal best.

The team managers for the 2010 summer season are as follows and their mobile phone numbers can be found on the “Who’s who – team managers” page of the website.
