Laura Wright 2017

Although the rain held off for most of the races, earlier rain had left the course in Brecon today wet and heavy going, with most of the spectator areas ankle deep in mud.

With fewer athletes turning out than in the first round in Cardiff, nevertheless the club produced some good performances even though the only winner of the day was Laura Wright (pictured) in the under 20 ladies' race.

Clara Evans 2017

In the absence of Swansea teams to test them, there were no fireworks in Monmouth yesterday as Cardiff's senior men's and women's teams had comfortable victories in the Welsh cross country relay championships.

In the last but one event of the day, Clara Evans (pictured) got the senior ladies' team off to a good start and handed over to Heddwen Daniel who ran strongly to provide the final runner Kate Seary with a clear lead which she extended to over one minute by the time she had crossed the line, recording the fastest individual leg.
