Senior women start well

With only eight points separating second to fourth places, Cardiff UK women's Athletic League team got off to a good start in Southampton last Saturday, 6th May.

Local club Southampton AC triumphed on the day with 197 points with Cardiff fourth with 188, a clear 22 points ahead of fifth placed Harrow AC.

The pick of the Cardiff's performances was Rebecca Chapman's win in the long jump A with a wind assisted personal best jump of 6.42m, her best for two years. Rebecca also won the 100m B race.

Cardiff's other individual event winners were: Kate Seary (800m A); Jessica Abraham (pole vault A); Sarah Geary (long jump B) and Sarah Omoregie (shot put A; also another personal best).

Best wishes for a speedy recovery go to Ffion Palmer who had been looking forward to making her debut in the senior team but was taken ill with Appendicitis on the Friday evening and spent Saturday in hospital.
