Sara Barry

On a warm and sunny day, albeit with an unpredictable wind, it was good to see so many Cardiff members challenging for medals at the Welsh Championships, held in Cardiff today, 12 June. Amongst the many medals won by Cardiff athletes, pride of place goes to the 100m senior men, where Cardiff had 6 of the 8 finalists and took all three medals through Christian Malcolm, Liam Duff and Lloyd Reffell. Sara Barry (pictured), coached by former triple jumper Sean Power, took gold in the triple jump and improved her own championship best performance.

Sizzling run from Christian Sunday 30 May 2010

 Christian Malcolm

Cardiff star Christian Malcolm was clocked at 10.15 in winning his semi final of the 100m at today's UK Inter Counties championships in Bedford. Unfortunately, the wind speed was over the limit at 6.7 m/sec (yes, 6.7) but this should not detract from his performance. UK Athletics' statistician and athletics expert Ian Hodge, who saw the race, believes that Christian is "80% back to his best form".
