Cardiff's UK Women's League team has returned to Division 1 after winning all three of this season's matches. Club captain Emma Peters (pictured) led her team to victory by winning the 400m B, coming third in the 400m hurdles A and running the last leg of the 4x400m relay. At Liverpool on Saturday last, 31 July, Cardiff clinched promotion by taking first place ahead of Enfield & Haringey, who will join Cardiff in Division 1 next year.

Cardiff's British League team could be heading to re-join the elite of British men's clubs after finishing third in the third round match at Bromley on Saturday last, 31st July. After placing second in each of the first two rounds, and with one match remaining, Cardiff holds the second promotion spot with a healthy four point margin over third placed Kent AC.

PRESENTATION EVENING Wednesday 28 July 2010

ADVANCE NOTICE The club's 2010 annual presentation evening and disco will be held on Sunday 12 September from 6.30 to 10.00pm. Last year´s event was such a great success that a larger venue was needed; so this year it will be at the Earl Haigh Club in Whitchurch. This annual event is a marvellous opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the past season both for the teams and the individuals who have performed well. Tickets are only two pounds each and will be available in the club room. Put this date in your diary and come along and have a great evening.

He also worked for Welsh Athletics as Competition Manager before landing a prestigious job with European Athletics, based in Lausanne, Switzerland. Cardiff's former general secretary and current membership secretary Kath Elias has been elected as chairman of the Schools' International Athletic Board (SIAB), thus adding a further chapter to her already long and impressive list of achievements in the sport. David Guest misses medal Thursday 22 July 2010

David Guest

David Guest, who competes for Cardiff's British League team as a higher competition athlete (he is first claim to Bridgend) just missed out on a decathlon medal at the World Junior Championships in Moncton, Canada. Although amassing a personal best score of 7,691, David could manage only fourth place, missing out after a closely contested event by the agonisingly small margin of 60 points to third placed Marcus Nilsson of Sweden.

Ffion shines in Glasgow Tuesday 20 July 2010

Ffion Bodilly

Cardiff's Ffion Bodilly was the only Welsh winner in the schools international held in Glasgow last Saturday, 17th July. In tricky conditions, Ffion, 15, won the high jump with a leap of 1.70m, only one centimetre short of her personal best of 1.71m, which she set in a Young Athletes League competition and which puts her into equal third place in the current UK under 17 rankings. Cardiff sprinter and Welsh international Melanie Stephenson's father Derrick has cycled 250 miles from North to South Wales to raise more than £350 for the charity Diabetes UK. He took on this challenge as Melanie is diabetic, having been diagnosed with the Type 1 version nine years ago, when she was 13.
