More gold for Aled

Monday 24 July 2017

He entered the event as the favourite; and how he justified it.

On Saturday evening, in the Olympic Staddium London, Aled Davies won the F42 shot put title at the World Para Athletics championships with a massive throw of 17.52m which was more than three metres ahead of the silver medallist and more than a metre better than his own world record of 16.13m.

After the event, a jubilant Aled, who seems to be unbeatable, said that he is now aiming for 20m. Who would bet against him doing it?

Brilliant.

Yesterday, the final day of the championships, Steve Morris, taking part in his third event, finished fifth in the 5000m in a personal best time and a new British T20 5000m record. Three events (1500m, 800m and 5000m) in a major championship in one week is no small achievement; and to come fourth, fifth and fifth in finals (with a PB in the last one) is something to be proud of. Well done Steve.
