Indoor medals for Cardiff

Cardiff AAC athletes won 13 medals including 4 gold at the 2010 Welsh indoor championships held yesterday, 23 January, at the NIAC. Event winners were Liam Duff (Senior men 60m), Megan Tatnell (Under 13 girls 800m), Alex Coomber (Under 17 boys 800m) and Gareth Hopkins (Senior men 200m A). Notable was 14 year old Ffion Bodilly's third place in the SENIOR women's high jump with a personal best equalling 1.67m.

The full list of medallists is as follows.

Gold:   Liam Duff (Senior men 60m - 6.9);  Megan Tatnell (U13 girls 800m - 2:40.93);  Alex Coomber (U17 boys 800m - 2:01.49);  Gareth Hopkins (Senior men 200m - 22.16).

Silver:   Jacob Preece (U15 boys 800m - 2:15.77);  Melanie Stephenson (Senior women 200m - 25.26);  Gary White (Senior men long jump - 6.88m);  Briony Raine (Senior women pole vault - 4.11m);  Lauren Regan (U20 women 800m - 2:26.68.

Bronze:   Tom Marshall (Senior men 1500m - 3:54.00pb);  Imogen Miles (Senior women long jump - 5.60m);  Ffion Bodilly (Senior women high jump - 1.67m =pb);  Megan O'Sullivan (Senior women triple jump - 10.92m).

James Wiltshire took 1st place in the Senior men's 200m B race.

Near misses came from Mica Moore (Senior women 60m);  Elishka Coupar (U13 800m);  Emma Peters (Senior women 400m); Samantha Cogan (Senior women 200m); and Tom Kivell (Senior men long jump) all of whom took fourth places. 

Lewis Newton (16) came close to his personal best, clearing 4.36m in the pole vault.
