Good start to season

Tuesday 27 April 2010

Winter training has paid off as Cardiff has two teams off to strong starts. The National Junior League team, away in Leamington, made a solid start by taking second place, narrowly beaten by Plymouth & Cornwall. In the Under 15 League match, in Cardiff, the club was a runaway winner, amassing a total of 1057 points to win by a huge margin from second placed Hereford (579) with Cwmbran third

In the Junior League match, Junior League team captains Sam Conway and Elinor Lewis led by example and the team amassed a enjoyed a formidable 17 first places and 11 second places.

Sam Conway enjoyed 3 individual first places with Elinor contributing 2 second places, 1 fourth and 1 fifth in addition to both helping their respective 4 x 400m teams to victory.
New team members Gareth Winter and Matthew Field both had excellent days with Matthew adding some 7 metres to his PB in the Hammer despite using the heavier implement for the first time.
Mica Moore had an excellent run in the 100m, reinforcing our very strong showing in the sprints in this league; Indeed we cleaned up in the relays with 3 firsts and a second to finish off a great days athletics.

Fuller reports of both matches can be found by going to the individual match pages via Track and Field Events in the main menu.
