Champion Charlotte

Cardiff's Charlotte Arter improved her personal best time by 14 seconds to win the BMC grand prix 10,000m at Stretford last Saturday, 19th August and become the England Athletics (equals UK) champion. British international Gemma Steel was a distant second. Charlotte's time of 32:37.52 takes her to seventh on the current UK rankings for 10,000m.

Also competing in Stretford were Alex Coomber, Joe Reid, Matt Clowes and Owen Haswell, all of whom then ran for Cardiff the following day in the final BAL match in Manchester.

Alex was a whisker away from a personal best with 1:48.46 for 800m while Owen Haswell ran a personal best of 8:43.09 for 3000m. Joe reid clocked 1:50.20 for 800m and Matt Clowes ran 8:24.64 for 3000m (before pacing the first part of a 10,000m race !!).

Steve Morris clocked 3:57.24 for 1500m and Gareth Griffiths set a personal best of 3:58.39 for 1500m.
