Ben the best in Britain

Cardiff's Ben Hillman is developing into a very good all-round athlete and proved it over the weekend by winning the under 15 boys' Octathlon title at the England Athletics championships in Manchester.

Ben's winning score of 4,336 was 176 points ahead of the silver medallist. Ben Henson was fourth in the same competition while Tom Britt was 7th in the under 17 decathlon and Harri Wheeler-Sexton was 9th.

Ben's individual marks were:

100m: 11.96
Javelin: 30.79m
Pole Vault: 2.80m
400m: 55.32
80m Hurdles: 11.78
Discus: 30.62m
High Jump: 1.69m
1000m: 2:53.6

Ben Henson's score was 3,799; Tom Britt's was 5,399; and Harri Wheeler-Sexton's was 5,305.

Elsewhere, Jake Heyward set a new personal best of 1:50.33 for 800m at the BMC meeting in Watford.
